take it from a person who lives in the coldest house of the zodiac
Written by Victoria
Today’s tarot card is the Sun. The happiest card in the deck, and somehow, the one that made me sit quietly for hours.
For a lot of people, seeing it in a spread comes with a smile. Almost a sigh of relief. Joy, warmth, success, recognition. Finally, something good.
As someone with my Sun in the 12th house, I find myself looking at that happiness from a little further away.
I think of it as living in the coldest house of the zodiac. That’s my own description of how it feels. If the houses were rooms along a hallway, mine would be the room where the light comes in quietly, and I’ve grown comfortable enough in the shade to forget there are other places to sit.
Being seen doesn’t come naturally to me. Being in front of a camera, being perceived, being known outside of a setting I can control. Even this blog lets me open the curtains while deciding how far they go.
I can share something intimate here and still have time to choose my words. There is comfort in that.
So when I pulled the Sun, I kept thinking about visibility. What it feels like to be recognized. What happens when something you’ve been doing privately suddenly has an audience.
And although that question feels personal, the reading kept pulling my attention toward someone else.
Someone who is finally being seen.
I’m getting the impression of a person who has received an opportunity they’ve wanted for a long time. A promotion. A graduation. An invitation to an artist residency. Being chosen to go on tour. Having their work featured in a magazine or shared on an established platform.
Something that says, “We see what you’ve been doing. We want you here.”
There is real happiness in this. Excitement. Relief. But underneath it, I’m sensing a little impatience.
Honestly, this couldn’t have come any sooner.
And I understand that feeling. When you’ve spent so much time working toward something, waiting for a response, wondering whether your efforts are reaching anyone, recognition can arrive carrying the weight of every day you felt overlooked.
You’re happy it’s here. You also remember how long it took.
That was where I began to understand the Sun through my own 12th house experience. I kept looking at everything surrounding the moment of joy. The private effort. The uncertainty. The parts of the story that won’t necessarily make it into the announcement.
Because there is something called toxic positivity. There is a kind of happiness that feels overly produced, packaged through wellness culture until every difficult feeling needs to become a lesson before we’ve even had time to feel it.
Everything looks a little positivity washed.
Where is the struggle that brought us to what we now call success? Where is the backstory? Where is the history? Where are the roots?
I can admire a sunflower in all its glory, but I also find myself wondering about the earth holding it. The rain that helped it grow. The roots beneath something so easy to notice.
Perhaps that’s what I’m sensitive to in this reading. The person behind the achievement.
I’m sensing someone who has put a great deal of themselves into getting here, and now that the opportunity has arrived, they’re already thinking about everything it needs to become.
The income. The stability. The career. The life they’ve been trying to build.
In my Celtic cross spread, the Ten of Pentacles crossed the Sun. I read that as a question about how much responsibility this one moment of recognition is being asked to carry.
How much of your future have you already placed on it?
The Ten of Pentacles can speak to lasting security, family, legacy, and the kind of foundation that supports you beyond the present moment. Those are beautiful things to want. Especially if stability has felt far away.
But I’m sensing a temptation to move too quickly. To turn a promising beginning into a guarantee. To accept more responsibility than you have room for because you love this so much, and you’re afraid to lose the momentum.
You can be grateful for an opportunity and still need time to understand it.
That is the message I keep coming back to. Let it come to you in levels.
Especially if this is your first time.
Your first time in that role. Your first time receiving that kind of attention. Your first time being invited into a room you once hoped would open for you.
There is something beautiful about being the most inexperienced person in a room full of experts. You get to ask questions. You get to observe. You get to discover things you couldn’t have known from outside the door.
That quieter position feels familiar to me. Taking everything in. Listening before speaking. Finding my way into an experience before knowing how to express myself within it.
Maybe that is what my Sun in the 12th house brings to this reading. I can feel the hesitation inside something happy. I can imagine how exposed a person might feel when the work they’ve held so close is suddenly being noticed.
This could be you entering a graduate program. Moving to a country where you don’t know the language. Joining a creative community where everyone seems more established. Stepping into a role you worked hard to earn and realizing how new it all still feels.
You were chosen, and there is still more to learn.
Both can be true.
I’m writing this from my own quiet room, thinking about someone who may be standing in a much brighter one. Someone who wanted this, worked for it, and now needs a moment to let themselves arrive.
So enjoy the recognition. Let yourself feel happy about what has come. You can remember the difficult parts without letting them decide how much joy you’re allowed to receive.
Give yourself time to grow into the opportunity. Ask the question. Take the lesson. Let someone show you something you don’t know yet.
